Frankies in Blankies
In recent times my mum had been buying "puff dogs" which are essentially a frankfurt in pastry or a"pig in a blanket".
This year in the spirit of this blog and deciding that I can make all the food for the upcoming party I decided to make some. 'Can't be to hard' I thought. I found this recipe online at taste.com. My bestie thinks I am only making this because I like that name, which is only partly true.
For mums that want no fuss food that isn't going to take up too much of their time in the kitchen then this is a good one to do. There is absolutely nothing complicated about this recipe, I'm hesitant to even call it a recipe because it is super easy.
1kg cocktail frankfurts (or chevupi)
4-5 sheets puff pastry
Sauces for dipping
1. Pre heat oven to 200°C. Cut each pastry sheet length ways into long strips.
2. Take one frankfurt and starting at one end, wrap the pastry around until you get to the other end. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Brush lightly with egg wash.
3. Cook in the oven for approx 30 mins or until pastry is puffed and golden.
4. Serve with your (or of course the kids) choice of dipping sauce.
